How It Works

The robot moves through the home on its own, comes to the person when needed, and returns to its charging dock without any help. A set of discreet in-home sensors lets it understand the rhythm of the household, like activity in the kitchen or by the door, so it can offer support at the right moment.

A friendly on-screen face and simple touch prompts make everyday interactions easy, while natural voice conversation lets people ask questions and give instructions just by speaking. The assistant is concise and genuinely helpful, and it never offers medical, legal, or otherwise harmful advice. For anything beyond its role, it gently points to the right person to ask.

Designed Around Your Privacy

Privacy is built in from the start:

The robot never stores images, video, or audio. Everything is processed in the moment and immediately discarded.

Everything in One Simple Dashboard

Caregivers can set up and manage everything from a single, easy-to-use web dashboard. No technical or coding knowledge required:

  • Map the home: Mark rooms and the places the robot should go.
  • Build care routines: Create and fine-tune how and when the robot helps.
  • Stay in control: Turn routines on or off, start or stop them, and review a clear history of what the robot has done.

Safe and Reliable by Design

The robot manages its own battery and charging, continuously checks that it’s ready before starting any task, and always keeps a person in control. Routines can be paused, redirected, or stopped at any time.

Rooted in NIH-Funded Research

RahaTech is built on four years of research funded by the National Institute on Aging under award number 1R01AG075892-01A1, and by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering under award number 1R21EB036448-01, both at the National Institutes of Health. The full academic research behind the product, including publications, study design, and technical detail, lives at robotsforaging.cs.unh.edu. RahaTech is the product built from that research.
